that shimmers as if a great patch of oil
were floating on its surface
or a cave illuminated
with a multi-colored display for tourists

the other side beams a white effulgence
of seprated red, green, and blue

drawn in through a luminous portal
parting the water
entering stone
color as materialized light acts upon you
a transubstantiation
you’ve entered, melding with the plane
to emerge on the other side
where your rematerialized body
casts color-separated shadows
